Pumpkin Smoothie

Pumpkin Smoothie – This Pumpkin Smoothie tastes just like a slice of Pumpkin Pie! The best part is that we’ve made this Pumpkin Smoothie healthy. It does not have any of the dairy, gluten, or sugar that normally comes with eating a big slice of pumpkin pie.

If you love pumpkin spice as much as I do, but also love clean eating, this Pumpkin Smoothie is going to be your new fall favorite drink!

Pumpkin Smoothie

With fall finally upon us, all of a sudden, every store, restaurant, and coffee shop are filled with pumpkin spice everything! And while a venti PSL (pumpkin spice latte) from Starbucks might be tempting, the dairy and excess sugar (63 grams!) of these sweet drinks aren’t exactly healthy.

The good news is, you don’t have to sacrifice your health to join in on the pumpkin spice fun. This Pumpkin Smoothie requires only 5 main ingredients (not counting spices and water), and just 5 minutes to whip up!

Sweet, satisfying, and filled with healthy fats, this Smoothie with Pumpkin is perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even a dessert! So how did we make this recipe so healthy, yet still full of fall flavor?

How to Make this Smoothie with Pumpkin

This Pumpkin with Smoothie Recipe uses only real, clean, and minimal ingredients! Here’s what we used to make this recipe so perfect for fall!

Pumpkin Puree: Pumpkin puree is simply pumpkin that’s been cooked, and pureed. That’s it! Incredibly nutritious, and offering a hefty dose of antioxidants, vitamins, and health benefits, pumpkin puree is the real deal!

Raw Pecans: Pecans are full of healthy fats, protein, and fiber. They bring a warm and buttery flavor to our Smoothie with Pumpkin, and add some extra nutrition too!

Flaxseeds: Functioning as both a thickening agent, and adding omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, you’ll find flaxseeds or flax meal in many of our smoothies!

Frozen Banana: Frozen bananas are a go-to base in most of our smoothies due to their ability to create a thick and creamy texture. Full of potassium, fiber, and many other nutrients, frozen bananas are a non-negotiable!

Medjool Dates: Medjool dates are not only the perfect natural sweetener, they’re also smooth and creamy, which again, contribute to the texture of our Smoothie with Pumpkin Recipe!

Spices: Cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in this recipe combine to make the perfect pumpkin spice flavor in this recipe! Alternatively, you can make your very own Recipe for Pumpkin Pie Spice from home for an easy and quick single scoop.

Adding Extra Nutrition to Pumpkin Smoothies

This Pumpkin Smoothie is already filled with plant-based nutrition, but there’s always room for more! If you want to add some extra nutrition without tampering with the flavor too much, here are a few of our suggestions:

  • Collagen Peptides: Collagen contributes to building bones, skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and more. Collagen is full of protein, and has been studied to reduce inflammation, contribute to improved joints, bones, hair, nail, skin health, and more! It’s a flavorless powder with major benefits, that you won’t even notice in your recipes!
  • Spinach: Warning – Spinach will turn your beautifully orange smoothie into a brown greenish color, but other than appearance, it’s undetectable! If you’re looking to get some more greens into your diet (a goal we should all have), blending it into smoothies and pureed soups is a fantastic option!
  • Cacao Nibs: Definitely detectable, but in the best way, cacao nibs are a delicious topping for your pumpkin smoothies! Cacao is the minimally processed product of cacao beans. This results in a highly nutrient-dense, rich powder. Due to its dense nutritional power, many consider it to be a superfood! Healthy chocolate? Yes please!

The list could go on and on, but these are just a few of our favorites for pumpkin smoothies in particular!

Hi, what could be substituted for the banana?

Madison Suttles

Hi Liza,

Frozen avocado will provide the same creamy texture, although not the same sweet flavor. Frozen mangos or peaches will offer similar texture and sweetness, but I'm unsure of how they will taste with the pumpkin spice in this smoothie.

I hope this helps, Madison
