How to Make This Rack of Lamb Grilled to Perfection

A few months ago, we had some friends over and they brought us a rack of lamb to grill. At that point, I had never had a rack of lamb grilled or cooked in any way before and was a bit of a skeptic. I should note that I am typically not a fan of sweet meat like lamb or veal. However, when this rack of lamb was grilled, the smells wafted through the house and I wanted to give it a try.

By the time I made it into the kitchen, the boys had devoured the entire rack. They thoroughly enjoyed it; you could tell by the grins on their faces.

Since purchasing a rack of lamb is quite expensive, we really did not want an overdone recipe that would turn into a disaster. So we opted for simple and easy.

Using fresh rosemary out of my container garden, we combined that with fresh garlic cloves minced, sea salt, cumin and olive oil.

Simple and Delicious Recipe for Rack of Lamb on the Grill

I am quite impressed at how simple and clean this recipe for rack of lamb grilled to perfection actually is. Follow just 4 instructions and be sure to set aside 2 hours for the marinade.

  1. Place the rack of lamb on a large serving platter, set aside.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, rosemary, minced garlic, sea salt and cumin. Spread the mixture on all sides of the rack of lamb and allow to marinade for at least 2 hours in the fridge.
  3. Turn the grill on high. Once to temperature, place the fat side on the grill for about 3-5 minutes, until the lamb rack is golden brown.
  4. Turn the grill down to medium-high and flip the rack of lamb over and cook for about 15 minutes until the lamb is to your liking.

Make a Savory Marinade for Rack of Lamb

Making a savory marinade for rack of lamb is so easy. You’re just going to combine a few simple ingredients, rub it on the rack of lamb and then let it rest for about 2 hours. The primary ingredients are:

#1: Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil is one of the oldest known culinary oils. Extra-virgin olive oil contains predominately monounsaturated fat. It also contains antioxidants and flavonoids that help prevent bad LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and becoming dangerous to your blood vessels. The olive oil gives the rack of lamb grilled a golden brown crust on the outside.

#2: Fresh Minced Rosemary

Over the summer, I planted an herb container garden on my patio and have been enjoying fresh herbs in our meals since then. Even with winter time, my rosemary is still happily enjoying the garden life.

Rosemary is chock full of a wide variety of specific phytonutrients called flavonoids. It’s also rich in antioxidants like vitamin E. Rosemary has particularly strong anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to be helpful for people with inflammatory conditions like asthma and even heart disease.

The phytonutrients in rosemary also aid in detoxification by enhancing the action of liver enzymes responsible for metabolizing and detoxifying chemicals.

#3: Fresh Minced Garlic Cloves

If you’ve been around Clean Cuisine for any length of time, then you KNOW we absolutely love garlic and probably known for adding it extra just because! There are so many tremendous health benefits of eating garlic. On this rack of lamb grilled recipe, it adds a depth to the flavor that you can’t replicate with anything but fresh garlic.

As you can see in our recipe photos, lamb done have a significant amount of fat. However, this type of fat is an anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acid. Which means, you are improving your overall health with proper fats that reduce your inflammatory response overall.

Need More Protein? Eat Lamb!

This rack of lamb grilled with savory rosemary is loaded with vital protein. Just 1, three-ounce serving contains over 23 grams of protein. We believe it’s important to know how much protein your body needs, based on weight and activity level. So, if you’re active, 1 serving of lamb can account for over 1/2 of your protein intake for the day. Eating a sufficient amount of protein can provide slow-burning sustainable fuel and help your body build and repair muscle mass.
