Quick Healthy Lunch On the Go Guidelines and Storage

We so often hear from our Clean Cuisine readers asing about quick tips for eating healthy lunches during the workday.

Eating lunch-on the-go can be easy, delicious, and a lot of fun! Everybody knows that I don’t like recipes–I just like to throw some ingredients in a bowl and be on my way. But, I will provide you with a couple of Quick Healthy Lunch on the Go Guidelines for your next work (or play) day. And also–and this is the fun part–some ADORABLE storage containers and lunch bags that will make your clean lunch on-the-go the envy of all of your co-workers (both for its stylish and nutritional punch!).

Let’s start with the fun stuff:

The geniuses at BALORAY eco-friendly lunch boxes make your lunch on-the-go more practical and more gorgeous. These lunch boxes look more like purses than perfectly insulated, BPA-free and made from reusable resources.

xtrema cookware

But, the fun (and the style) doesn’t stop there. Xtrema® cookware has really great eco-friendly containers that can fit into your adorable little purse, I mean, lunch on-the-go bag! These ECOlunch Stainless Steel Food Containers are my favorite–yes, because they save the environment without you having to use plastic, but also because they are so darn chic.

We also love this eco-friendly stainless steel bento box from WildFoodLab. You can check it out here.

100% LEAKPROOF LID – At Wildfoodlab they extensively to make sure that this container is leakproof. It’s guaranteed.

ECO-FRIENDLY – This Bento box is very durable and will give you many years of reliable use. It contains no materials that are harmful to the environment and re-usability means no waste. It’s great for hot or cold items.

HIGHEST GRADE STAINLESS STEEL – Made from food grade 304 stainless steel you can be sure it’s BPA-free, corrosion resistant, durable and dishwasher safe.

Last but not least, this is a great 100% biodegradable and vegan lunch bag option by AEBBO.

100% BIODEGRADABLE and VEGAN: our odorless environment-friendly lunch sack that holds for years, is free from any synthetic and toxic materials. Be kind to our planet and be an example for the others! Choose a product that supports the environment.

I’ll let you decide which food containers you like best. As I said above, there are hundreds to choose from. There are also hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to fill these charming little lunch boxes. Here are some of my guidelines for a delicious lunch on-the-go:

Quick Healthy Lunch On the Go Guidelines

Ok, I’ll admit that these “guidelines” as I call them are somewhat particular to my own taste, but they are the principles that I tend to stick to when I’m taking lunch on-the-go, and they are 100% clean, easy to prepare, and oh-so-scrumptious. So…feel free to infuse your own style into your lunch on-the-go. I usually pack one “main course” and two sides or “snacks.” And, I stick to three main principles when making my “main course”: Base/Extras/Dressing.

Moroccan warm chickpeas salad

Main Course:

Bases

Garbanzos Beans

Black Beans

Pinto Beans

Quinoa

Barley

Bulgar

Kamut

There are so many more choices. Click here for more whole grain “bases” and the story behind them.

Extras

Grape Tomatoes

Olives

Cucumbers

Jicama (one of my FAVORITES–crunchy and delicious)

Red Cabbage

Peas

Green Beans

Cilantro

Parsley

Dressings

Clean homemade ranch dressing

Clean homemade Caesar dressing

Herbed Green Goddess dressing

Snacks

Nuts! (of any kind…..macadamia, pine nuts, almonds, you name it)

Fruit! (of any kind….but, I usually choose an apple)

My favorite lunch on-the-go lately has been sprouted whole wheat pasta, grape tomatoes, cilantro, and the Ageless Avocado dressing. I try to eat avocado everyday for its incredible skin-nourishing properties. With with Quick Healthy Lunch On the Go Guidelines you’re now well-equipped to make your lunch your own way!

    Hi Erin,

When I first checked out Ivy’s website I found a video clip of her explaining what she would typically eat on any given day. There was mention of coffee and cream in the morning, I recall and a ready in the fridge soup for lunch for instance. I can not seem to find that now. Any idea where to look?

Then I have to nutrition related questions. I know ( and have seen on the site that you would be in agreement) that flax seed oil (and some other oils to) should never be heated. Why is it then that some of Ivy’s recipes would have Flax seeds in the ingredient list, and ends up being put in the oven/heated? I would have thought that the same would happen with the oils inside the flax seed if heated in this way?

And now I have no idea what my last question was. Nevermind. I will think of it later.
    Hope you can help.
    Judie

Hi Judie! I think this is the video clip you are probably looking for: https://cleancuisine.com/anti-inflammatory-diet-diary/

Also, not to worry about heating the flaxseeds, as long as the seeds are “whole” and the oil has not been separated then flaxseeds can be used for baking purposes =)

      Hope this helps?
