Fit Over 40: Full Body Workout for Women (VIDEO)

The first total body 30 minute workout video in my Fit Over 40 Workout video series, this Full Body Workout for Women works EVERYTHING! You’ll not only work every major muscle in your body, but you’ll get your heart pumping, burn fat and get a cardio workout too. No gym membership or fancy fitness equipment required.

Fusion Fitness Approach

If you happen to have the Full Fitness Fusion companion DVD to our Clean Cuisine book, you’ll notice a lot of similarities between this workout and that one. Both workouts fuse a variety of exercise training techniques into one compact (but highly effective!) 30-minute workout.

Time-Efficient Full Body Workout for Women

If time-efficiency is what you are after in a workout routine, then working multiple muscle groups at once is definitely the way to go!

Just like with the Cardio Core Workout, this Full Body Workout works multiple muscle groups simultaneously. For example, instead of working just your upper body by doing an overhead press, this routine combines a squat with an overhead press.

By incorporating combination moves in your workout you’ll do the following:

  1. Strengthen and tone major muscles
  2. Burn a lot of calories
  3. Activate your core
  4. Get your heart pumping

Any workout that does those four things will get you fit, FAST.

Set Aside Just 30 Minutes, 3x’s a Week

I know for a lot of people, especially women over 40, finding time for fitness is not easy. Many women feel if they can’t dedicate an hour to working out at a gym 4 or 5 days a week that they might as well not bother. But the thing is, if you follow a clean eating diet you can get by with exercising a lot less than you might think.

A properly designed full body workout such as the one in this video can definitely get you fit and lean exercising just 30 minutes, 3 days a week. You don’t even need to leave your house or put on shoes to do it either!

        1. Ivy Larson says:

Oh Jen, I am so so sorry to hear you are still not doing well. My heart goes out to you. I am not sure why Dr. Massa has not reached out to you but I know her husband recently took over managing her office and I think she is just totally swamped (plus she has a new baby). But please try reaching out to Dr. Rofrano. He and his wife are our personal friends and I have been a patient of his myself. The reason I didn’t give you his information first was because I wasn’t sure if he handled phone consults, but I think he might do it for you. He is INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and I absolutely think he could help you. His website is http://www.nmcwellness.com and phone number:
          561-475-5779

You can also email: Dawn@spoonfulofhealth.com and info@nmcwellness.com (his wife’s blog is SpoonfulofHealth.com)

My suggestion would be to start with an email and explain in detail your issue and ask if you could pay for a phone consult. Please keep me posted!! I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

          1. Ivy… Ty so much I will definitely try contact them soon & keep you updated. Only with me being in Lowell, Massachusetts will they be able to help?
            All my thanks ALWAYS
            Jen

            Hi Jen,

I am going to their house tomorrow night for dinner so let me chat with Dr. Rofrano then and see how he thinks he could work with you. I am sure he would want you to get blood work, but you might need an MD in your area to write the script for the tests he wants so your insurance can cover it. But let me find out tomorrow! I know you are really struggling and I so want to figure out a way to help.

          3. Ok Ivy Ty… plz let me know what he says i couldnt reply to your other comment so I am here seeing I wanted you to get this. Thank you for caring. Yes… I a m so sick and can’t take living liked this anymore I truly feel if I have to live like this I would rather not wake up anymore . I am not living & just existing it is the most horrific feeling . Ty
            Jen

          4. Ivy Larson says:

Oh Jen, I have been there. I don’t know if you know my full story, but the MS diagnosis in 1998 is what started me on my clean eating journey. But then after YEARS of pain, I learned I had a congenital hip disorder. I had 2 surgeries and had a horrible complication after the final one. I couldn’t walk for over 6 months and was in constant horrific pain. And NOTHING I did worked. The surgery required breaking my femur (thigh bone) in half to rotate the top part into the right position and my broken leg just wouldn’t heal for over 6 months. I fell into a terrible depression and had an incredibly difficult time motivating myself to continue doing hours of physical therapy a day that just wasn’t showing results. Anyway, please know I know what it is like to feel as though your body is failing you. But you have to have hope. The most important thing is to get to the right doctor and get the right diagnosis, then you can begin to treat the problem. I am praying Dr. Rofrano can help. I will let you know what he says after our dinner with him tonight. Much love and prayers. xoxo

      2. Ty so much Ivy … I know you know. I started following you & your books shortly after I got sick. That is why I reached out to you. I am SO thankful to you for replying andx caring. It’s more support than i have gotten through this terrible ordeal Ty so much

        Jen

        1. Ivy Larson says:

I feel just awful for you Jen. Someone from Dr. Rofrano’s office should be reaching out to you by email sometime today. I didn’t realize he DOES see out-of-state patients (he even does consults for people in other countries!) I am not 100% sure how it works with insurance, but his wife, Dawn, works in the office and I know she will help you sort it out. Please keep me posted on how things go. I’m keeping you in my prayers. Much love, ivy

  6. Hi Ivy…
I have been following you since 2012 but I recently became very sick in 2014 and still am I can’t eat like I use too nor workout like I did. I feel as if I aged 40 years in 3 yrs . I now need to follow a lowfodmaps diet and wondering what your thoughts were on that? Have you ever heard of this and which recipes and foods you have that fit that diet?
I want to start working out again but honestly I feel so out of it all the time and my doctor put me on synthroid saying my thyroid is really off and I feel as if I live in a Box . I can’t even drive anymore this is a nightmare. I am losing all my hair too. Ugh!! Anyways what are your thoughts on lowfodmap diet and do you believe in them. Ty so much
    All my best
    Jen Trudel

    1. Ivy Larson says:

Hi Jen, I am so sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you. I am also terribly sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I know you said you were sick, but I wasn’t sure if you were still trying to find a diagnosis? I am definitely familiar with a low FODMAPs diet, it is typically for Irritable Bowel Syndrome though. Although it doesn’t sound like a troubling condition from the name of it, I know it can be a nightmare for some people.

If you are not familiar with it, FODMAPs is an acronym for a collection of food molecules (mostly sugars) that are short-chained carbohydrates, both fermentable and poorly absorbed in the gut. FODMAPs stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols. These are specific sugars found in food (such as fructose & lactose) that can cause significant gastrointestinal issues for some people if they are not absorbed completely. It can’t hurt to try a low FODMAPS diet, but you might also want to consider taking digestible enzymes.

Taking digestive enzymes with your meals can help break down food while your gut heals (while you are trying a low FODMAPs diet) You also may benefit from nutrients that help heal the lining of the gut including fish oil, GLA (from evening primrose oil, zinc, vitamin A and glutamine. Again, I am not sure if IBS is what your main issue is BUT if so, you have nothing to lose by trying the diet temporarily and adding in the supplements too.

Please let me know if it is something else though—I might just be off on a tangent. I really do feel for you though as I know how depressing it can be when you lose your health.

I am sending you healing wishes…

      Warm hugs,
      ivy

      1. Thank you Ivy… I have been using digestive enzymes as well as following the fodmaps diet now for a year I am sicker than ever I have a lethal amount of vitamin B12 in my blood work although I don’t supplement with it and what I do supplement with I am not benefiting from it it’s as if my body won’t obsorb the nutrients I am also on synthroid for my thyroid yet I don’t have a diagnose for that either. I am always so sick my gastritis is awful and I do have ibs nothing is helping I an a 43 years old I feel 100 I can’t concentrate I lost my muscle my hair can’t function my muscles and nerves shake my vision is poor I can’t concentrate I live in my room away from the world I can’t even drive anymore I want my life back and no one is helping me. I get blood work back and their are alot of little changes but not enough of a lot for a big picture but as years are passing I am getting worse and now with this Vitamin B12 lethal dose I am just told don’t take vitamin B 12… I DONT … I DONT UNDERSTAND What is happening to me. … I followed you for many years and was hoping your way would help me and I already supplement with Fish oil everything you suggested because as I said I follow you but I was wondering with all the ppl you come in contact with what dies this sound like to you? Do you know of anything I can do to help myself perhaps what type doctor may help? Ty any advise would help. I want to live some sort of life and get some of me back. I have a 21 Year old daughter with aspergers that needs me and I can’t even take care of me anymore. Ty so much. I wish I had an email to send you maybe you can reply to me thru there my email is justamommy@comcast.net thank you again for your time
        All my Thanks
        Jen

        1. Ivy Larson says:

Oh Jen! What a nightmare you are going through. Where exactly do you live? If you live in south Florida I have a functional medicine doctor who I think could help diagnose exactly what is going on and also put you on the road to recovery. I definitely do not want to play doctor (since I am not one) but I do think I can maybe help get you to one who can help. Are there any more blood test results you can share that might be helpful? Are you taking any medications at all? Also, can you give me a run down of what a daily diet might look like for you? If you do not live in south Florida I might be able to get the doctor to do a phone consult. If not this doctor, I am sure there is a functional medicine doctor somewhere in your area—but I just love the one here. But the more info you can provide the better. It is definitely better to leave me messages here on the blog btw instead of email because I am often WEEKS behind on email these days =( Whatever you do, do not give up hope. You just need to get the right diagnosis…and the right treatment plan. Anyway, the more info you can give the better…I will definitely do my best to try and help.
          much love, ivy

          1. Ivy…
I live in Lowell Massachusetts. My vitamin B12 is over 3000 I don’t supplement with extra Vit b12 looks as if it’s been high going back to 4 years ago when I first started complaining it’s been a nightmare yet they never seemed concerned I know I was. Now my BUN IS OFF it’s over 28 and I am anemic iron low as well as red cell count . My thyroid shows I should be hypo but I lost weight my triglisteris is over 300 as well as cholesterol yet I am only 77-80 Ibs I don’t eat much meat at ALL.. I do have good fats though . I eat a serving of walnuts everyday as well as Chia seeds and I enjoy these amazing paleo bars from Julian bakery made with egg whites and sunflower seeds I need to eat anything that agrees with me at this point. I eat Chicken breast maybe 2xs week. Greek yogurt too 1% fat the triple Zero kind from Dannon but maybe one time week only in summer I make frozen yogurt pops from these . I eat lots Zucinni and Sumner Squash , carrots . As for the walnuts I buy from a local small company in Maine . They are sprouted so they are easily digested . I am know adding sprouted pumpkin seeds too and recently started adding golden berries to my diet . No added sugar to it and because constipated problems since birth I eat only 4 prunes per day ( the Sunkist pre wrapped ones… I need to be careful not too much because of fodmaps diet) . I have no one that will listen nor help I am losing hope . Ty
Ty SO MUCH for trying to help
            All my Thanks
            Jen
