We LOVE Green Drinks – especially this Green Tea Smoothie Recipe
If you’ve been following Clean Cuisine for a while, you know we are very big into all things green. We love green smoothies, green drinks, green vegetables and green phytonutrient supplements. Especially Barlean’s Greens and Amazing Grass Green Superfood.
How to Make a Green Tea Smoothie
Today we wanted to share a special SuperGreen Green Tea smoothie recipe that’s made with lots of greens and green tea. Naturally sweetened with whole fruit so there’s no bitter flavor. We know, the green tea smoothie recipe might sound a bit strange, but not to worry — it tastes every bit as delicious as it is good for you!
Double the Batch and Store it for Day 2
One of the best things about a smoothie recipe like this is you can double the batch. Then, add to a large canning jar or storage jar with lid and pop it in the fridge. The next morning, take the big jar of green tea smoothie out of the fridge. Give it a good shake and pour it for a day 2 smoothie.
Use High Quality Matcha Green Tea
For the most part, the green tea most people drink in the United States is not at all the same as the green tea they are drinking over in Japan.
Our Favorite Brands for this Green Tea Smoothie Recipe:
#1: Enzo Organic Matcha Green Tea (Loose Tea)
This delicious, high-quality, certified organic Enzo Matcha Green Tea has pure and rich flavor. This brand is all about their matcha, and like mentioned above, it is super high in vitamins and antioxidants. The great thing about Enzo Green Tea? They offer 100% refunds if you don’t love everything about their teas. We love making matcha latte’s with plant-based milk + honey!
#1: Costco’s Kirkland Signature Green Tea (Steeped Tea)
We particularly like Kirkland’s Brand found at Costco and Amazon for taste and price. Costco’s Kirkland tea is made from sencha green tea from Japan. In keeping with the Japanese tradition, the tea is gently steamed, rolled, and then dried. The minimal processing stops the oxidation and preserves the freshness, aroma, and color of the tea leaf.

Juicing versus Blending
Some of you must be wondering why we haven’t said a word about juicing. Or maybe you’re wondering when we love smoothies so much.
It seems that juicing and juice bars seem to be all the rage these days among clean eating enthusiasts. The reason we haven’t talked about juicing is because we really are not very into it.
Juicing Fruits + Vegetables:
Unfortunately, when you juice fruit and vegetables, you lose the fiber and antioxidants. Then, you can expect to see a spike in blood sugar that results in mood swings, energy loss and food cravings.
We only suggest juicing for people that are either at or below their body weight – but honestly, blending is MUCH better. Here is why!
Blend Your Fruits + Vegetables Instead!
When you use a high speed blender to make your amazing smoothie recipes, you enrich your body with fiber-rich, antioxidant-rich benefits. Drinking a smoothie ensures the slow release of nutrients that provides an incredible amount of benefits.
- Promotes digestion and weight loss
- Boosts energy
- Reduces your risk of disease
- Avoids blood sugar spikes
- Keeps you full for hours!
