You’ll either be happier or move easier or have more energy or something. Ok, so I can’t guarantee it 100%. However, assuming you are not allergic to any of the ingredients, I am willing to bet you’ll notice a difference.
You have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

This Golden Milk Recipe Will (Probably) Make It All Better
I first heard about Golden Milk while we were in Costa Rica for a retreat. Coffee was strongly discouraged at the retreat and Golden Milk was served instead. I was not particularly enthused about the idea of giving up my coffee for the week. This was especially so since Costa Rica is known to have some of the best coffee in the world! However, I went along with the program anyway. I knew about the coffee restriction going to the retreat, and brought along my favorite alternative to coffee, Dandy Blend. This was just in case the whole no-coffee thing became unbearable.
Much to my surprise, I found no need for Dandy Blend –or even coffee!—with Golden Milk. I’m not a morning person, but each morning after sipping my cup of Golden Milk, I felt full of energy, happiness, and was ready to go. Keep in mind, Golden Milk is not nearly as potent from a therapeutic standpoint as this Golden Milk Recipe. The Golden Milk served at the retreat was basically just warm coconut milk with turmeric and a sprinkling of spices.
A Turmeric Golden Latte packs A LOT more anti-inflammatory oomph!
I came up with this latte recipe after returning from a family ski trip to Whistler. On this trip, I enjoyed a Turmeric Chai Golden Latte as my Après ski beverage every day after hitting the slopes. If you have ever gone skiing (and you are also over the age of 40!), then you know what the sport can leave you feeling like at the end of the day. Sore!
My Golden Latte was one thing I looked forward to having as soon as we got back to our hotel. It made me feel better almost immediately. Made with both ginger and turmeric, this warming chai has incredibly potent anti-inflammatory properties. By adding the black pepper and a bit of good fat (from the coconut milk and the GLA-rich hemp seeds), the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric are fully active.

A Cup of Golden Milk a Day Will Keep the Doctor Away…
Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory that exhibits over 150 potentially therapeutic activities. This includes antimicrobial activity, as well as potent anti-cancer properties. Turmeric is the star ingredient in my Latte recipe. Capable of anti-inflammation for everything from aches to arthritis, glowing skin, boosted immunity, improved digestion, and even a cure for depression and cancer, turmeric is one of the most therapeutic spices that exist. The benefits of turmeric are truly too many to even include here.
If you are serious about following a clean, anti-inflammatory diet, then you should consider adding this beverage to your daily regimen. I have a number of additional anti-inflammatory turmeric recipes on the blog (such as my mood-boosting turmeric smoothie, turmeric detox smoothie/ popsicles, turmeric vinaigrette, etc), but this one is definitely the most potent!
Try it now and I bet in 10 minutes you’ll feel better than you do right this minute =)

If you look at the ingredients you are using to make your latte, you should be able to calculate out using the products you’re choosing!! Let us know what you come up with!
Pamela says
Ivy why is this recipe have “Chai” in it’s name? I don’t see any Chai Tea (?) in it? Should I be substituting that for the water listed?
Aimee Harris Niedosik says
Pamela, Chai simply means tea mixed with strong spices, like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger and black peppercorns!
Alison says
for the golden turmeric drink can you omit caradmon if you do t have it
Ivy Larson says
Hi Alison, I apologize for not responding sooner, somehow your comment got lost in the shuffle. But yes, you can definitely omit the cinnamon if you don’t have it!

I’ve just made your golden chai turmeric latte, in fact I’m drinking it as I type. It’s more delicious than I imagined it wold be and really satisfying. I was a bit suspicious as I was making it but I am so amazingly impressed. One of the things I like is that you can taste the hint of all the different ingredients and I particularly like the hint of citrus and ginger.
It’s now on my definitely make regularly list but now the challenge is to get my teenage children to try and enjoy.
Thank you for the recipe.
Ivy Larson says
Hi Eileen! Oh you just totally made my day with your positive feedback =) I am SO happy you like the latte as much as I do. Thank you for taking the time to let me know! I hear you on the teens though (I have a 17-year old!)

I just made it! I doubled the recipe and substituted six dried figs for the dates as I did not have dates. I am assuming it was for sweetness? Is it a good substitute nutritionally? It is just nicely sweet and absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to feel the effects! Thank you.
Ivy Larson says
oh YAY! So glad to know you made it Dianne =) And yes, Figs are a GREAT substitute for the dates (I think they may actually be more nutrient-dense, I know they are a good source of plant-based calcium) And yes, I added the dates for sweetness, but I think I will try it with figs next time myself…
Dianne Ness says
Hi Ivy! Thank you so much for the effort you put into your health and in your generosity of sharing it with others. I am looking forward to trying this. I am going to sweeten it with figs….just because I don’t have dates right now. It may have an interesting texture. I am looking to replace SOME of my coffee, and also add turmeric to my diet and get off anti-inflammatory meds. Thanks again!
Ivy Larson says
Hi Dianne! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment–and for your positive feedback. I am so happy to know the information helps you! Also, if you are trying to get off meds for inflammation, you might also really want to look into pharmaceutical grade fish oil (about 2,000 to 3,000 mg a day). It is is one of the strongest anti-inflammatories available without a prescription. I’ve been taking it for almost 20 years to control my MS symptoms and I really do think it makes a difference!
Kim says
Hi, Ivy. I take fish oil for multiple corneal conditions. I’m curious to know which brand you use, if you don’t mind sharing. Thanks, Kim
Ivy Larson says
Hi Kim, I think it is GREAT that you take fish oil because it has such a broad range of benefits and has been heavily researched in the medical literature. As for which brand to take, you want to make sure to take a pharmaceutical grade fish oil that is free of dioxins, PCB’s, mercury, etc. Nordic Naturals makes an EXCELLENT one! As for which one I take, I take our Clean Cuisine brand of AM/ PM supplements that includes a pharmaceutical grade fish oil along with evening primrose oil and broad spectrum of vitamins and mineral ( https://cleancuisine.com/clean-supplements/ ) But if you just want the fish oil, you absolutely can’t go wrong with Nordic Naturals!
