Complete by Juice Plus+ is nutritious, delicious and one of the very few packaged protein we endorse.

If you’re new around here, then you would know that we generally do not promote protein as part of the anti-inflammatory diet. But Complete by Juice Plus is the exception. Learn more and get our 10 shake recipes for the Chocolate and Vanilla Complete by Juice Plus+.

What is Juice Plus?

Juice Plus+ as a company is unique in the nutritional supplement world. Their fruit and vegetable-based products are one of the most thoroughly and scientifically researched nutritional supplements anywhere.

Average person Needs 9-12 Servings of Fruits and Vegetables per Day

The average person does not eat a “whole foods” diet much less come anywhere close to eating the 9 to 12 servings of fruits and vegetables that they should eat each day for optimal health. Thus, the average person is highly deficient in the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich phytonutrients found in fruits, vegetables and other plant-based “whole foods”.

How does Complete by Juice Plus Help Fill the Gap?

This is where the Juice Plus+ product line and Juice Plus+ Complete shakes step in to fill the gap. These products provide your body with a much needed nutrition “booster.”

To jump right to the recipes just scroll right on down. But, you might want to read more on what makes a protein smoothie healthy or not.

When It Comes to Phytonutrients, More is Better:

As part of a “whole foods” based anti-inflammatory diet, you should eat at least 9 to 12 servings of phytonutrient-rich fruits and vegetables each day. However, we can also incorporate Complete by Juice Plus+ into our diets because you can’t overdo phytonutrients. When it comes to your phytonutrient intake, more is better.

Be Careful with Vitamins and Minerals

This is absolutely NOT the case with vitamins and minerals. If you over-consume vitamins and minerals there can be toxic consequences. In comparison, getting more phytonutrients from whole foods into your diet will have tremendous health benefits including reducing inflammation, reducing oxidative stress, slower aging and protection against a wide variety of degenerative diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Learn how much is too much here.

What is Juice Plus?

The Juice Plus+ product line is comprised of whole food-based phytonutrient-rich nutrition boosters. Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend and Juice Plus+ Garden Blend are concentrated fruit and vegetable juice powders in easy-to-swallow capsule form.

What is Complete by Juice Plus?

Complete by Juice Plus is a highly convenient “whole foods” based vegan powder blend that not only provides plenty of vitamins and minerals but also a phytonutrient boost.

Complete by Juice Plus+ is a 100% natural plant-based and fiber-rich “clean and green” whole foods shake that is free of animal products, dairy, gluten, wheat, yeast and artificial sweeteners.

Best of all, it fuses whole food nutrition with fast food convenience. And let’s face it; the fact that it’s convenient is important. And finally, unlike some of the other “whole foods” shakes we have tried this powder truly tastes good too. In our book, taste is almost every bit as important as convenience!

Where to Buy Complete by Juice Plus?

Juice Plus+ is sold through independent distributors.  In addition the products are often available by searching Amazon or you can try to buy from Amazon by clicking HERE.

What Exactly Are Phytonutrients?

Phytonutrients are disease-fighting substances found only in plant-based foods. Phytonutrients not only help protect and support the health of the plant, but also support the health of YOU, the plant-eater.

Plant-based foods contain literally hundreds of different phytonutrients that work synergistically on many different cellular levels to optimize health. The greater variety of phytonutrients you get the better protection you have. Phytonutrients are one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants. Because, they work to prevent both visible and cellular aging.

Scientific evidence supports the value of phytonutrients in preventing and treating at least three leading causes of premature death including cancer, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. In addition to offering powerful antioxidant benefits, phytonutrients are powerful anti-inflammatory substances that help reduce the systemic inflammation associated with many chronic inflammatory conditions.

Phytonutrients from Whole Foods are Best

It is important to note that taking isolated phytonutrients is not something we endorse. Juice Plus+ does not contain isolated phytonutrients but instead contains phytonutrients in “whole food” form.

For optimal health you need lots and lots of phytonutrients from a mix of all sorts of different plant foods. There are scores of plant foods to eat and each plant food has its own unique phytonutrient makeup.

You Need a Variety of Phytonutrients from Different Plan Foods

In fact, scientists have identified over 10,000 different phytonutrients to date. Importantly, there is no such thing as a magic bullet single “best” phytonutrient because these powerful substances work synergistically as team players. Juice Plus+ “whole food” based phytonutrient boosters in the form of Juice Plus+ Orchard Blend and Juice Plus+ Garden Blend.

2 Most Frequently Asked Questions:

Why Are the Recipes Dairy-Free?

While we don’t completely avoid dairy, we have substantially decreased our dairy consumption over the years. We now only use just a little cheese here and there for flavor, but no other dairy products at all. We prefer plant-based phytonutrient-rich almond milk and hemp milk to dairy milk (both are easy to find in any supermarket and come in soft box containers.) You could also use unsweetened soy milk if you prefer (such as Silk brand) but since Juice Plus+ Complete includes soy we think it’s a good idea to incorporate hemp milk or almond milk for diversification.

hemp seed benefits

Why Do You Use Hemp Seeds in the Complete by Juice Plus Shake Recipes?

We use hemp seeds because they are incredibly nutrient-dense “super” foods. Hemp seeds are rich in essential omega-3 and omega-6 fats and contain about 25% protein and 10 to 15% fiber. They also add a nutty, rich taste to shakes and also provide a rich array of minerals, particularly potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Try THRIVE Market; an Online Nutrition Store

You can purchase hemp seeds in nutrition stores or Whole Foods Market.  Another great place to shop for hemp seeds is THRIVE MARKET for a five dollar per month membership gives you discounts of 20 to 50 percent off what you would get from Whole Foods Market on all kinds of healthy and organic foods and products.  Click HERE for a free trial membership.  For more information on Hemp Seeds click HERE.

hi Gwen, Oh sure! Juice Plus Complete would be great for a 2-year old. You can also open up the Juice Plus+ capsules and mix them in smoothies or just plain water. I did that for my son for years (now he is 17 years old and can take the capsules just fine)

      Hi Lisa,

Oh gosh, we actually specifically omit the calorie count of our recipes in our books and on website because we are not big advocates of “counting your food” (in the form of calories, carbs, fat grams, etc.) but rather on making your food count nutritionally. Here is a link to an article I wrote discussing this more here: https://cleancuisine.com/calorie-counting-is-not-helpful-all-calories-are-not-equal/

Also, for what it is worth, if you are worried about calories then the #1 most important thing you can do is to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. Calorie per calorie fruits and veggies have more nutrition than any other food group—and the nutrients will not only curb food cravings but also support a healthy metabolism. Fruits and veggies also take up a lot of space in your stomach so you will feel more full on fewer calories. And I realize fruit gets a bad rap in certain dietary circles, but as long as it is “whole fruit”, there is an inverse relationship between body weight and fruit consumption. This is NOT the case with fruit juice, which has had the fiber removed. The sugar in fruit juice is converted to glucose and then to insulin (which promotes fat storage) VERY quickly—but this is not the case with “whole fruit”.

However, if you still want the calorie count you can always go to “CALORIE COUNTER” and type the ingredients of the recipes in and get the calorie count that way 😉

    Ivy,
Love all the recipes and the fact you believe in and recommend JP+ and the Complete. As a JP+ rep, I know it is important the way the JP+ is stored, etc. Please do not encourage anyone to go to Amazon to buy JP+. JP+ has a great return policy, Children’s Health Study, and support system. With the Children’s Healthy Study, kids can get it free. So it is so much better going through a rep. We just want to make sure the customer is educated and has a product that hasn’t been stored incorrectly or a wrong expiration date.
And, glad your husband Andy, listened to his patient and y’all are on JP+!
    Thanks again!

Hi Jane, Thank you so much for the positive feedback and so happy you like our recipes. We really do love JP+ and Andy highly recommends it to all of his patients. We have had this issue with Amazon in the past due to an automated program called “Skim Links” that links various saleable products without us really having control over it. I thought we had fixed the issue, but I guess not =( I will try to fix again right now!

Hi Bill! It’s fine to use either soy or almond milk for your smoothies….both are healthy! I like to switch things up because each one offers it’s own unique set of nutritional benefits. For example, soy milk has imprortant omega-3 and omega-6 fats and phytoestrogens that are heart healthy as well as helpful for protecting against hormone-sensitive cancers (such as breast and prostate). Soy has also been shown to lower “bad” LDL cholesterol. But almonds and almond milk are also very healthy and have important phytonutrients that help protect against heart disease and promote health too. Almond milk does have fewer calories than soy milk though, so if you are looking for a “lighter” shake you might want to use almond milk. Hope this helps?
