13 Gifts for Someone with Chronic Illness

This is the best gift guide to check out if you know someone that has a chronic illness or autoimmune illness. Gift buying can be difficult, and in my experience, buying presents for adults is harder than grabbing toys for my nieces and nephews. I want to buy people gifts they will genuinely love and use, but this is much easier said than done.

As someone living with an autoimmune disease, I can tell you that I am higher maintenance than I’d like to be. From dietary changes, to vitamins and pills, and a schedule filled with appointments, sometimes, I just need a little extra help.

These amazing gifts that I have selected will help to simplify life, bring organization, and give healthy ways to relax

So, if you have loved ones or friends with chronic illness, this guide was made for you!

Doctor Visits Tracker

There’s nothing more frustrating than waiting months for an appointment, only to leave realizing you forget to ask all your questions, and have a very foggy memory of everything you and your doctor discussed during your visit.

That’s where the Doctor Visits Tracker comes in!

This tracker has a date of visit, reason for visit, physician/clinic, questions, notes, prescriptions, and return visit section on each page! This gift would be much appreciated for someone in your life that frequents the doctor.

You can find the doctor visit tracker here.

thrive market

Thrive Market Membership

Thrive Market is an online grocer offering organic, healthy, and diet friendly products at a MAJOR discount.

A membership is only $59.95/year, and according to my records, my membership saves me right around $800.00/year on groceries. That’s a $740.00 savings!

I use this site for everything. If I can buy it on Thrive, I buy it on Thrive! It’s just so simple. Every month, I get together a huge grocery order, and later that week, it arrives at my front door! No grocery trip required.

Seriously, this is a membership I value over Netflix. That’s saying a lot. Get or gift a Thrive Market membership here!

Daily Wellness Log

When identifying intolerances and triggers, it’s vital to spend at least a month or so tracking food, symptoms, and any changes in your daily life. This wellness log goes above and beyond by offering slots to track your hours of rest, sleep quality, energy levels (with prompts that closely relate to spoons), menstrual cycle, and even bowel movements (woohoo)!

When beginning my health journey, I use to do all of this in my planner, which is doable, but a major task! This wellness log simplifies everything, and would make for a great gift for someone on their own health journey.

Find the daily wellness log here!

Luvele Yogurt Maker

I first discovered Luvele’s yogurt maker only last year, and don’t know how I’ve lived without it up to this point. I’ve been dairy free for 4 years now, which made it difficult to find a SCD AND dairy-free compliant brand I could enjoy from stores. I love that this machine gives you total control over how you make your yogurt, even down to what probiotic strand you use.

With only a few cans of coconut cream, probiotics, a teensie bit of cane sugar for the bacteria to eat up, and gelatin, I’ve got 10 days worth of 36-hour yogurt! I literally CRAVE this stuff, it’s so good! With only a few tablespoons of this in my smoothie every morning, I have seen major improvement in my gut health, and the way I feel each day!

Whether you choose to to make diary-based, or dairy-free yogurt, this yogurt maker does it all! This present is life changing!

Mindfulness Coloring Book

Many of us with chronic illness or autoimmune diseases are very type a, anxious, and cortisol dominant people.

We often have high expectations for ourselves, possess perfectionistic traits, but also suffer from very foggy brains. When trying to wind down before bed, waiting at the doctor, or simply feeling anxious, doodling/coloring can be a great way to cut down the stress, and focus our minds on more calming thoughts. I love that this is easily portable, and never becomes outdated.

I’ve had mine for 3 years now, and am nowhere near halfway finished!

You can find this coloring book here!

Drop Dead Gorgeous Toxin Free Dry Shampoo; light and dark hair options

Okay, let’s be honest. Sometimes, there’s a good 3, 4, or 7 day gap between hair washes. Thankfully, we have dry shampoo to get the job done when we’re just not feeling extra long showers.

Most dry shampoos are sold in aerosol containers, and filled with toxic chemicals like aluminum, artificial fragrance, silicones, and phenoxyethanol just to name a few. When you think about it, we are not only putting these on our skin (the largest organ in the body), but straight onto our scalps! When I came to this realization, I quickly trashed all my conventional dry shampoos, and traded them for toxin free, eco friendly versions.

Those of us with chronic illness often suffer from compromised immune systems, and our bodies don’t necessarily expel toxins as easily as someone with a body functioning at 100%.

From personal experience, I can tell you, you’re not losing any quality, and have everything to gain for your health.

This is a great present that you can feel good about giving. (If I were you, I’d pick one up for myself too!) Find it here.

Sysrion Sleep Mask

Those of us with chronic illnesses are often fatigued, which means we try to catch naps wherever and whenever possible.

This sleep mask is especially great for blocking out light, and is super comfy too! Chronic illness or not, you can’t go wrong with gifting a nap.

Essential Oil Diffuser

I love having a house that is filled with festive fragrances, and homey vibes. I was always the person to have wallflowers everywhere, and a candle constantly burning. When I begin diving into holistic health, I began reading up on the ingredients that go into these products to achieve these smells, and let me tell you, they’re pretty detrimental to our health.

In pursuit of eliminating carcinogens floating around my home, I bought an essential oil diffuser! There are endless mixtures and possibilities with an essential oil diffuser. Whether it’s lavender for relaxation, peppermint for congestion, or simply a blend of oils to make your house smell like Christmas, a diffuser is a must have for everyone! I chose this one in particular because of how much water it can hold (500ml in comparison to most I’ve seen between 100 and 300!!).

Find this essential oil diffuser here.

Cooler Backpack

Many of us with chronic illnesses are on a special, healing diet. I know for me, I will NEVER be found without snacks, and meal substitutions stashed away in my purse, or a cooler in my car.

This can get tricky, especially when navigating long days away from home, or vacations where you’d like to bring your own meals and/or snacks.

This backpack is great for work, school, hikes, or my personal favorite, trips to places like Disney World!

Find this cooler backpack here.

Bath Pillow

This product ties in perfectly with the self care products category!

Sometimes, a nice long bath is all you need to solve a world of problems, and it’s even better when your spine isn’t resting on hard plastic! This bath pillow suctions to your bathtub, making the perfect no-slip, cushy way to enjoy a bath.

I promise, your recipient will LOVE this! Find this bath pillow here.

100% Pure Gift Set

By this point, I’m assuming you’ve caught onto the fact that I don’t vibe with toxins. However, I’ve always loved experimenting with makeup and skincare products, and growing my collection of these.

100% Pure is one of my very favorite makeup and skincare brands, because you seriously will know and recognize every single one of their ingredients. Don’t quote me, but I’m pretty sure you could eat one of their tubes of lipstick, and not even suffer as much as a stomach ache.

Unless you know someone and their makeup preferences super well, it can be difficult to buy them makeup.

That’s why I recommend buying a gift set for the skincare lover in your life! If they’re looking to change to a company that removes the toxins, without reducing any quality, this is the one to beat!

Gift sets change out throughout the year. Below, you can find their whole gift set section!

The 100% Pure Gift Set section can be found here

Heating Blanket

A huge telltale sign of inflammation in my body is achy joints. It basically feels like a migraine in your joints, and has kept me up many nights throughout my life. I use to rely on rice socks to constantly reheat, but that kept me getting up every 45-minutes.

Switching to a heating blanket was one of the best choices I’ve made.  This heating blanket in particular is huge, offers 4 heating options, and automatically shuts off after 3 hours.

This is a super universal present, that will be highly appreciated by anyone!

Find this heating blanket here.

Day Designer Planner

I’m a firm believer that everyone should have a detailed, day-by-day planner, and The Day Designer is literally perfect in every way. I spend days researching, and flipping through planners before I found this one a few years back. People say you know when you know about the big decisions in life. Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I saw this planner… I KNEW it was the one.

This has a slot for every (suggested) waking hour of he day, a to-do list, notes, your daily gratitude, dues, dollars, dinner, and a don’t forget column for each day of the year!

This planner helped me survive my last two years of college, and continues to help me organize my work life post graduation. Living in a constant state of at least a little brain fog, a detailed planner like this is essential for staying on track! This is the perfect gift to kick off a new year!

Buy The Day Designer here!

I hope this our gift guide for someone with chronic illness will make your Christmas shopping a lot easier, and give you some ideas for gifts everyone is sure to love, and use. And remember… you can and should buy YOURSELF Christmas gifts too! Merry Christmas!
