This past weekend Andy and I took Blake and my mom to Orlando to visit my cousin Elizabeth and to go to Universal Studios. Since I’ve lived in Florida practically my entire life going to the Orlando theme parks is something I’ve done about fifty times. I pretty much know what to expect when it comes to the food. “Clean eating” is hard enough to do when traveling, but doing so at Disney is the ultimate challenge. I think I read somewhere recently that McDonalds and Disney have a close partnership. That relationship alone says it all.
Orlando Theme Parks are Not the Place to Eat on the Fly….You Have to Plan Ahead
Anyway, after countless trips to Orlando theme parks on numerous occasions I know for sure if you want to eat clean you pretty much need to think ahead and make a reservation at one of the sit-down restaurants no matter which theme park you go to—otherwise chances are slim to none you’ll be eating anything remotely healthy! (Just an FYI, for this trip we ate at Lombardo’s fish restaurant inside Universal Studios. I was pleasantly surprised as there were plenty of super tasty and very healthy options.)
Pack & Go “Amazing Meal” Green SuperFood
As for snacking in theme parks (or anywhere on the go) I don’t like to leave my hunger to chance. When traveling, I always carry something healthy packed away in my purse. I jam enough stuff into my purse as is so whatever I pack needs to not take up a lot of space. For this trip I decided to try something new I found at Whole Foods Market called “Amazing Meal” made by Amazing Grass (actually I had packed two new things to try but the first turned out to be totally inedible—healthy as it was even I couldn’t’ bring myself to drink it. I won’t name names though!) “Amazing Meal” on the other hand is a powdered blend of whole foods that you mix in water to make a shake. Unlike the first undrinkable find, “Amazing Meal” was definitely drinkable too. I’m not going to lie and say it can compete head to head with a Disney milkshake, but it is certainly palatable and it absolutely curbs your hunger and helps fuel you through your afternoon.
What’s In “Amazing Meal”?
“Amazing Meal” is a blend of Green SuperFoods (including detoxifying wheat grass, kale, alfalfa and barley grass), plant based protein (from hemp and hypo-allergenic rice protein), phytonutrient rich fruits (including the “Super Fruits” acai and gogi berries) & vegetables, essential fats, digestive enzymes and probiotics. It’s basically concentrated whole foods nutrition delivered just the way Mother Nature intended…organic and raw. “Amazing Meal” contains nothing artificial, nothing refined and no isolated vitamins or synthetic substances of any sort. Just pure whole foods nutrition in an easy to-go packet.
One “Amazing Meal” packet contains just 100 calories plus a hefty 6 grams of fiber and 10 grams of “ultra-clean” vegan protein. It’s super satisfying and will help curb your appetite and keep your energy high for hours. As a personal testament, on our trip to Universal I had an “Amazing Meal” (Pomegranate Mango Infusion flavor) packet at about 3:00 and it held me until 8:30 that night. One quick tip though, if you are at home and have access to a blender you can substantially boost the flavor by adding 1/2 cup frozen mango plus a little lemon juice (about 1/2 a lemon) and whirl that right in with 8 ounces of water and 1 packet of “Amazing Meal” Pomegrante-Mango Infusion. (P.S. “Amazing Meal” comes in Chocolate and Original flavors and call also be bought in bulk in 15 ounce containers)
