Superfood List – 8 Powerful Superfoods + a Super Food Smoothie
Super Food List – Sharing my superfood list was sparked by a conversation with my mom about aging. The benefits of eating a whole, plant-forward diet has so many benefits. And no, we are not vegan.

Adopting a Whole Foods Diet – the Earlier the Better
Luckily, the anti-inflammatory and “whole foods” diet I adopted in my early twenties had an anti-aging benefit. However, I only really become aware of this in more recent years. But I sure do wish I had a superfood list back then. It would have made things so much easier!
In addition to reducing inflammation, my other goal was to optimize my nutrition. Back then I didn’t know much about superfoods and I certainly didn’t have a Superfood List. But, I know now that incorporating superfoods is imperative. Adding them in on a daily basis is one the most convenient and effective ways to reduce inflammation and optimize nutrition. Plus, anti-aging benefits too!
Side Benefits from Following a Superfood List
The “side benefits” of adding the items from my superfood list to your diet are threefold:
- Reduced risk for degenerative and inflammatory disease
- Slowed aging process
- You will feel AND look better

Let’s face it: maximizing nutrition in today’s rush-rush world is not easy….
Life is a lot different today than it was back when I graduated from high school. Day to day life just seems busier, more stressful and rushed. This means optimizing nutrition is not something that will just happen, unless you make it a priority.
However, identifying and incorporating key superfoods can help you maximize nutrition and reduce inflammation. Without spending all day in the grocery, health food store or kitchen.
The superfood list included below are some of the world’s most nutrient-dense foods. They also contain a very high number of anti-aging and anti-inflammatory nutrients. I can’t think of one single person who would not benefit from eating every single item on the superfood list. To include my growing pre-teenagers.
The only real problem with the superfood list is that some of the foods on the list are not very tasty. Actually, some of them do not taste good at all and they are definitely not cheap. Lastly, they are not that convenient to eat either. But don’t despair! I have a tasty, economical and convenient solution—I will share the solution in just a bit.
But first, let’s go through the top 8 most powerful supplements on my Superfood List.

Superfood List: 8 Powerful Superfoods
This list of superfoods is powerful. If you can find a way to add some of these into our every day, your body will greatly benefit. But you don’t have to worry! Because, I am going to share an amazing Smoothie recipe that will combine all of these items from our superfood list!
Superfood #1: Chlorella
Considered the world’s greatest anti-aging food, chlorella has incredible rejuvenating properties. Chlorella will improve the function of every cell in your body. It also has dramatic effects on the appearance of your skin, specifically against wrinkles.

With an abundance of nucleic acids, chlorella’s powerful anti-aging properties support a healthy body both inside and out.
Superfood #2: Moringa
India’s traditional natural Ayurvedic medicine currently incorporates moringa leaves in the care of over 300 different diseases. Moringa is known for lowering inflammation and oxidative stress as well as protecting against viral and bacterial infections.

This superfood is especially well-known for combating abnormal cell growth and revitalizing damaged cells. It also protects kidneys and stregnthens hair and skin. Moringa is definitely a superfood.
Superfood #3: Maca
This is my favorite afternoon coffee alternative! Maca is amazing for providing a clean, sustained energy in addition to helping to regulate hormones, improving memory, combating mood swings and enhancing fertility in both men and women. It is also one of my favorite stress-busting foods.

From insomnia to low energy, hot flashes to vaginal dryness and low libido, and even anxiety and depression, maca has consistently been shown to help women (and men!) with an array of bothersome hormonal symptoms.
Superfood #4: Spirulina
The world’s most nutrient-dense food, spirulina contains extraordinary concentrations of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients. It is also an excellent source of vitamin B12 and contains all essential amino acids in addition to hard-to-get “super fats” such as gamma0-linolenic-acid and essential trace minerals. Try my Spirulina Shot recipe here.

If you are looking for a natural and cost-effective way to cleanse, nourish, energize, strengthen, regenerate and rejuvenate your body. Then adding spirulina to your daily regimen should be at the top of your “to do” list. Learn about the 14 BIG Health Benefits of Spirulina here.
Superfood #5: Cacao
Considered to be the #1 longevity food, cacao is also the best source of magnesium of any food. Cacao is well researched and known to boost brain function. It also helps to build strong bones, regulate blood pressure, and promote strong hair and nails.

Cacao even has the ability to raise the “feel good” neurotransmitter. Plus raise serotonin, in your brain to boost mood and improve overall sense of well-being.
Superfood #6: Wheat Grass
The ultimate detox food! Wheat grass is well recognized for it’s ability to cleanse the blood. In addition, it helps to detoxify the liver and neutralize toxic substances such as mercury. It is super rich in chlorophyll and has been shown in studies to rejuvenate cells.

Wheat grass is also high in nutrients antioxidants and may reduce cholesterol too.
Superfood #7: Camu Camu
This superfood contains a whopping 600 times more vitamin C than oranges. In addition, camu camu has the highest amount of this super anti-aging antioxidant of any botanical source.
Camu camu is also incredibly rich in the phytonutrients. This superfood helps to support the health and appearance of your skin, hair, nails, tendons and ligaments.

Vitamin C even plays a critical role in the creation of key feel-good neurotransmitters, including norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine. And there is no better way to get your vitamin C than from a whole food.
Superfood #8: Acai
The most antioxidant rich food in the world, acai has a phenomenally high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value. Meaning it can gobble up damaging free radicals faster than just about any other food on the planet.

Acai is also bursting with hard-to-get essential fatty acids. It helps promote the health of your central nervous system, immune system, reproductive system and cardiovascular system.

An Easy, Economical & Tasty Solution to Eating Every Item on the Superfood List
As mentioned above, getting all eight foods on the superfood list is not necessarily cheap, tasty or convenient. Unless, you can get them in a powdered “whole food” form to mix in a smoothie, water or your favorite non-dairy milk.
The Perfect Superfood List Organic Smoothie Mix
After a LOT of effort we have created the perfect Superfood List Smoothie Mix that is both economical and convenient. All you need to do is purchase the following ingredients. Then, start a little assembly line of at least 7 small glass jars or containers. Add the appropriate amount of each superfood into each container. They are also in raw, organic, powdered form. There are no fillers, additives, preservatives or extra ingredients.
And truthfully, having the superfoods in a powdered form is amazing. It can easily be mixed in a smoothie, water or non-dairy milk. It’s really the only reasonable way to get all eight superfoods into your diet on a daily basis.
Superfood List Organic Mix Ingredients:
Although they come in a “packaged form”, make no mistake, this mixture is NOT a “processed food”! We are simply going to blend the “whole” superfoods together.
- Chlorella Powder (organic), from Anthony’s Organics
- Cacao Powder (organic), from Navitas Naturals
- Maca Powder (organic), from Navitas Naturals
- Amazing Grass Super Greens Booster: Greens Powder with Spirulina, Moringa, Wheat Grass & Kale
- Camu Camu Powder (organic), from Nativas Organics
- Acai Powder (organic), from Navitas Organics
Having the superfoods list mixture already blended together in a powdered form is great. Thankfully, some of the less-palatable ones get “cancelled out” by the more flavorful ones.
My Superfood List Smoothie Recipe
If you decide to pre-mix the Superfood List Mixture above, then you’ll be able to easily stir a day’s worth into any liquid. You can use water, hemp milk or almond milk. Although this mixture is loaded with nutrients, it is actually very low in calories (only 20 calories per scoop).
So it is not to be used as a meal replacement or anything like that. Instead, think of it as a nutritional “booster”.

From west Africa Ghana and I want to buy the superfood how will i get it
Hi Kaiba,
You should be able to get it on Amazon here: goo.gl/kPvJpX
Hi Ivy — I recently read on Livestrong that chlorella and spirulina are potentially harmful for auto immune illness. What is your take on that? Thanks! Kelly
Hi Kelly—gosh, I haven’t heard that? But, both do an incredible job of detoxifying the body and so I wonder if maybe that might be part of the reason? If the body detoxes too quickly I can imagine it could potentially stir up an autoimmune issue. Having said that I have MS (which is an autoimmune disease) and I have read a lot of about functional medicine doctors supporting chlorella and spirulina for MS. I know Dr. Wahl also promotes both in her book, The Wahls Protocol, which addresses autoimmune diseases. What I would suggest though is that you start with a small amount and work up. That should prevent any side effects that might result from detoxifying too quickly. I hope this makes sense?
I bought all the ingredients plus a few others on Amazon.com for $217.00 (compared to $298 for 6 months) which will give me approximately 7 pounds (200 oz or 3,178 grams)…enough for 1 person for 13 months on 1 scoop (same scoop size/portion rate as mega Nutrition) or over 6 months (still more than Mega at 1 scoop) using 2 scoops. That makes my order valued at 37% the cost Mega Nutrition!!
I have read a LOT of negative comments about Mega Nutrition and their lack of CS along with orders not being fulfilled.
That said the ingredients that they list are all certainly good but can be enhanced with some berry powders such as blueberry, raspberry, strawberry etc as well a beet powder and kale powder. There is a lot to choose from actually and a little research into the PROVEN attributes of each goes a long way to making sure you get what you really need.
I would be very cautious of Mega Nutrition based on all the negative reviews although things may have changed for the better. One thing that did bother me is that you seem to be advocating their product and it seemed more like “paid for” advice than actual use opinions.
Thx for the recipe.
Greg
Hi Greg, Thank you so much for letting me know about the cost savings as well as the negative reviews—I had never bothered to actually try to buy each individual ingredient like that and just assumed based on the price comparison for Mega Nutrition verse some others that Mega Nutrition was in fact a good value. Of course however I am sure that if you buy anything in bulk like you did you will always come out ahead cost-wise (the drawback is that some people do not like to pay a large price upfront, you know?) As for the bad reviews of the company though, that is awful! I had honestly never heard anything bad about this company. I did the video over a year ago though, so I wonder if they bad reviews happened since then? I really do think the actual product is superior though. Having said that, there are now a good number of superfood “boosters” on the market that are similar to Mega Nutrition (Barlean’s Greens and Green Vibrance are both great btw—but they are not exactly cheap!) Juice Plus+ is another super good one with A LOT of research behind their products—however, you can only buy Juice Plus+ through independent distributors, so a lot of people don’t like that business model very much. But, again, there are plenty of others on the market to choose from. Glad you did like the recipe though 😉 And thank you again for your feedback!
Hi,
Do you know the amounts of each of the superfoods in the mega nutrition superfood powder? I would like to make my own blend and have the ingredients. How MUCH of each of the 8 ingredients are blended to create the mega superfood formula? Thanks, Marti
Hi Marti! Oh gosh, that is a great question. To be honest, I am just not sure and I have a feeling the formula would be proprietary, you know? But, maybe you could just get the ingredients, read the back label and make the largest percentage the first ingredient, second largest the second, and so on. If you do come up with a homespun version please do let me know 😉 Good luck!
hey
would love to purchase and try one of these…
sounds and looks very exciting
however, no free trial etc. I just want a site I can purchase please.
also, do you ship to Stockholm?
Thanks
Shail,
