By paying close attention to eating a nourishing Clean Cuisine diet along with a few additional natural detox steps you can safely rid your body of toxins and get a fresh, clean start to a new year and a new healthy you!

Are Stored Toxins Making You Fat and Sick?

Did You Know Stored Toxins Can Increase Inflammation?

Many conditions that are seemingly unrelated such as asthma, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, allergies, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, etc., have one common denominator…inflammation. You can reduce inflammation and significantly improve symptoms of many conditions by adopting an anti-inflammatory, plant-rich Clean Cuisine diet based on nutrient-dense and unrefined whole foods.

However, you can take things to the next level by incorporating certain natural detox steps that further assist your body in removing toxins.  You want to rid your body of toxins because toxins promote the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which can exacerbate the symptoms of many inflammatory conditions. Toxins also generate the formation of free radicals. Free radicals do terrible damage because they accelerate the aging process and create further inflammation, causing a vicious inflammatory-toxic and free radical cycle which will have you looking and feeling much older than your years

Did You Know Stored Toxins Might Be To Blame for Excess Weight?

Did you know your body stores the vast majority of toxins in fat tissue (although you might not like how it looks, it’s safer there than in your bloodstream!) But, the more body fat you have the more toxins you are also storing.

Even worse, once you accumulate toxins in your fat cells your body doesn’t want to let go of them. This is because letting toxins loose and allowing them to run amok throughout your body is less desirable than having them stored “safely” in your fat cells.

But, sometimes the toxins do get loose, and when this happens they can slow down your metabolism. A study published in Obesity Reviews (1) concluded that during weight loss pesticides (organocholorines) and PCB’s (from industrial pollution) are released from fat tissue where they are typically stored. These toxins can pollute your metabolism and make additional weight loss challenging. Another study found individuals who released the most pesticides from their fat stores during weight loss had the slowest metabolisms after weight loss (2).

Additional studies suggest toxin release during weight loss can interfere with thyroid function and inhibit mitochodrial function, which can disrupt your metabolic rate and reduce your ability to burn fat and calories. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel; if you have excess fat to lose you can take simple steps to detoxify and simultaneously provide your body with the essential nutrients it needs to assist in the natural toxin elimination process and thus help prevent metabolic dysfunction.

Extreme Detox and Body Cleansing Programs Are NOT Necessary & NOT Safe

We absolutely do not support extreme detox programs (such as fasting, colonics, celebrity-driven detox diets like the “Master Cleanse”, etc.) Not only are such extreme detox methods unnecessary, they are ineffective and can potentially cause serious stress and harm to your body. As a surgeon Andy can assure you that your colon does not need “flushing” unless you are prepping for a medical procedure like a colonoscopy (a colonic can disrupt your body’s natural fluid and electrolyte  balance and lead to dehydration and even infection—and if you end up with an infected colon you will have a REAL problem!) If you embark on an extreme detox fast or diet you can end up prematurely aging yourself due to loss of lean muscle mass and inadequate nourishment (not exactly the desired effect!)

In fact, a sure sign that a detox program is not healthy is if you feel sick, tired or depleted while doing it.  If you think about it, if your cells are constantly regenerating then how in the world are you going to build a stronger, younger and healthier body if you aren’t providing your body with the nutrients and raw materials it needs to do so? Simply flushing your system out and depleting your body of nutrients is just not logical. Rest assured, our “Clean Cuisine Natural Detox” does not involve anything unpleasant or depleting.

Instead, our natural detox provides your body with the raw nutrients and substances it needs to gently remove toxins while building a stronger, slimmer, healthier you. You’ll end up looking and feeling better and younger—with lots and lots of energy!

The Clean Cuisine’s Natural Detox Works WITH Your Body, Not Against It

Regardless of what some people selling pricey “detox kits” would like you to believe, your body actually has a very good built-in mechanism for detoxifying itself. You don’t need to pop “detox pills” or eat any strange foods or unpleasant beverages. Nature actually provides all the nutrients your body needs for safe and effective detoxification; you simply need to get the nutrients into your body. Most importantly, unlike extreme detox methods, on our “Clean Cuisine Natural Detox” you will feel better and better each and every day.

  1. Extreme detox is actually gross, I’ve seen some of those pictures and there is no way that is supposed to be done to your body. It is no wonder your body would go into shock with that, I’m not sure that you aren’t getting rid of important stuff. Thank you for pointing this out to people because too many people are doing this and obviously there is a much better way to do it.

  2. I’ve learned a lot from your article, I never knew that toxins could be stored in your fat cells and make you even fatter. This is some very helpful information and you can bet that I will sign up for the daily notice of what I am supposed to do to detox over four weeks. When you start the eating plan, do you have to stick to that same plan for the full four weeks?

  4. Every time I workout, the sweat I excrete makes me feel rejuvenated. This indicates to me that exercise is an excellent way to rid your body of toxins. Having said that, I realize that many people do not like to exercise and those are the people who desperately need viable alternative ways to detoxify their body. So I am sure that Clean Cuisine’s natural detox method is a much needed solution for those who live a sedentary life.

  5. As you said in your article our bodies were made to cleans themselves of the toxins as long as we give it the tools it needs. Haven’t you ever noticed that stuff that isn’t good for your body it naturally tries to get rid of, for example smoking, if you have never smoked before and you first light up you can’t help but cough uncontrollably, that’s because it isn’t supposed to be there.

  6. I never really concentrated on how I felt physically until I read your article and realized that a lot of the symptoms that you gave for needing this detox, I had, I’m tired all the time I don’t have the energy I would like to have so that I actually want to exercise and I’ve gained weight. I think it is time I did something about it. I definitely signed up for your detox program.

  7. I got my first step this morning right to my email box, that was great. I have a couple of questions though. The guidelines that are in step one for eating, is the way we will eat for the full four weeks? And are there specific portions sizes we should follow? I noticed on the salad that it was “as big as you can but that doesn’t have dressing on it does it?

  8. I had a girlfriend that thought she needed to do one of those extreme cleanse programs and she told me that she felt terrible and she expelled things she was sure were not supposed to be expelled. Her body did go into shock and actually started to shut down on her. She was seriously ill for awhile because of this. I would definitely rather do it the natural way.

  9. It amazes me that people think they have to go to all these extremes to cleanse their bodies of the toxins the world puts in them. As you said in your article our bodies were made to cleans themselves of the toxins as long as we give it the tools it needs. It is like having a cold, and your body starts making you cough up that gunk, then you start getting better.

  10. I never knew that your body could hold so much harmful stuff in your fat cells, so if I am understanding your article correctly you could be poisoning yourself with your own body? The information that you provided is just staggering. I’m ready to give this a try, I’m tired of being tired all the time and if this will help me get energy and lose weight, sign me up!

    1. Great to hear Andrew. So many people are truly making themselves sick with what they are eating!!

  11. I have signed up for your four week detox, so how does it work exactly; we just follow the steps emailed to us every day for four weeks? On the first step about fruits and vegetables, are there any certain ones you should avoid? And the salad is that supposed to be without dressing? Do you eat this same way every day for the entire four weeks?

    1. Hi Samantha.
You will get one new step about every 4 days for one month. It is about 8 steps. They build on one another!
Regarding fruits and vegetable to avoid – don’t avoid any. Just be careful with the “dirty” dozen and highly consider getting them organic.
Dressing with a bit of oil (very little by the way) helps for you to absorb the nutrients of the salad better. We have a number of healthy dressing recipes on the site.
And yes, you will eat the fruit and the vegetables every day!!
      Thanks for you comments.

  12. I am so glad that you mentioned that those extreme detox and body cleansing programs are not only not necessary but not safe either. I have seen some of the pictures of what people have expelled and there is no way that is right or safe for your body, like you said in your article, I would think that would throw your body into some kind of shock, I’ll try your way first.
