Hamburger Recipe on Grill

  1. In a large classic batter bowl, add the grass fed beef and the gluten free flour and set aside. Do not mix together yet.
  2. To a food processor, add the bell pepper and onion. Process until minced and set aside. Then add the mushrooms and garlic, process until minced and set aside.
  3. To a 10″ saute pan, such as this ceramic one, turn the heat to medium and add the extra virgin olive oil and add all of the peppers, onion, mushroom and garlic and saute on medium heat for 6-8 minutes. The vegetables should be cooked through and translucent. Add salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Place the vegetable saute into a wire sieve and using a spoon, push to drain out all of the excess liquid (don’t skip this step). Then, place in a  glass bowl and place in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes to cool the temperature down. You don’t want to add hot vegetables to the beef and prematurely cook the beef.
  5. When the vegetable mixture is cooled, add to the beef mixture and gluten free flour along with the worcestershire and coconut aminos. Using your hands, combine until just mixed; careful to not overmix. If your patties won’t come together easily, add 2 tablespoons more of flour and gently combine. The patties should form easily or they will fall through the grill grates.
  6. Make 5-6, 1/4 pound hamburger patties and preheat the grill using medium-low heat.
  7. Once the grill is to the temperature of your liking, add the hamburger patties gently and close the lid. Grill for 5-8 minutes, depending on your preference of rare, medium, well-done. Flip the hamburgers and grill for an additional 5-8 minutes.
  8. Serve on a bed of mixed greens, on a whole grain gluten free hamburger bun.

My family of 4 doubles this recipe so we have 6 burgers for dinner and then save the rest to warm up for lunch the next day.
