  • 1 tablespoon organic cacao powder, such as Navitas Naturals
  • 6 raw macadamia nuts
  • 3 organic pitted medjool dates, like these ones from Terrasoul
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 large handful chopped kale
  • 1/3 cup coconut “cream”, see notes below
  • 45 ice cubes
  • Optional: a drop or two of pure peppermint oil or 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Put the water and strawberries in a high-speed blender and process until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the chia seeds, cacao nibs, cacao powder and macadamia nuts; process for 1 full minute.
  3. Add the dates, frozen banana and kale and process again until well-blended. Add the ice and process again.
  4. Add the fresh chopped mint or a drop or two of pure peppermint oil if using

Note: Pure peppermint oil is very strong, so start with just a drop and adjust to your personal taste and blend well. Serve ice cold.

Notes

Coconut “cream” is the thick, non-watery component of canned coconut milk. To get coconut cream, you first need to refrigerate the can of coconut milk for 5 hours or freeze for 30 minutes. Once the can is cold, remove the top and carefully spoon out the thick “cream” from the top, leaving the watery liquid behind. Use the thick “cream” for the smoothie.
