The Wait is Over! Our New Clean Cuisine Website is Here (Finally)
I am excited to announce our new Clean Cuisine website and my new blog column too!
The past few months have been a total whirlwind for me. We finally moved into the dream house we have been building for two years (Thank you Dreamstar Custom Homes!) Most exciting for me is that I now have my dream “Clean Cuisine” kitchen—I have however learned that white kitchen cabinets are not nearly as dreamy to clean as they are to look at. But I am not complaining. I truly do love my new kitchen, which I have gone to great lengths to organize by the way. Without a doubt, having a super neat, tidy and organized kitchen and pantry (complete with a collection of mason jars for all of my special flours, nuts and seeds) makes all the difference in the world in the overall cooking experience. Thank you to my friends over at Neat Method for all of their help getting me so incredibly organized! I absolutely love our new house and I have very much enjoyed decorating it and making it a home.
While unpacking, organizing and decorating our new home I was bogged down a bit trying to launch our 8-Week Clean Cuisine Challenge, a project I had been working on for months. I had great visions for how this would go, but unfortunately technical difficulty after technical difficulty made for bumpy sailing. Instead of sailing we sort of floated. A few times we actually sunk when the whole website crashed due to all the traffic. It was beyond frustrating for me because I am not a particularly techy person and I felt hopeless to fix issue after issue. It was right around this time that I was also getting flustered with the overall look and feel of our Clean Cuisine website, which started to appear very cluttered and discombobulated. I decided the only long-term solution was to give CleanCuisine.com a complete makeover!
It turns out that redoing a website is basically like remodeling a house. And you never really have an idea of exactly what you want for either until you are right in the middle of building it. During the building process you discover marble countertops as a kitchen option. And then you realize there is a difference between carrara marble and calacatta marble. Of course you can’t only concern yourself with outward appearances because the plumbing, electricity and every other imaginable little detail must also be attended to—and must also work! Once you build the framework you realize you have to move all of your “stuff” (articles, recipes, videos) out of the old house (website) and put them into the shiny new one. You don’t want to put anything too old or outdated in your brand new house (website) and so the cleaning out process becomes another job altogether. Before you know it two months have passed and although you have been working like crazy you realize that all of your friends (or readers) must have thought you were on a very long vacation holiday.
But I have not been on vacation. Neither has Andy. We have just been working incredibly hard for weeks on end. However, there is absolutely no way we could have done this website makeover without our very own “Ask Erin” columnist and my dear friend since the 4th grade, Erin Lodeesen (who is also now our Director of Operations.) Erin truly amazes Andy and me with her talents, energy and focus (by the way, she swears it’s her commitment to yoga that fuels her laser-like focus.) After she finished wrapping up her Ph.D dissertation a few months ago Erin’s schedule enabled her to start working more on Clean Cuisine. And work she did!!! Erin is entirely responsible for our fresh and beautiful new look and feel and she did every single graphic for the new website. This is incredible by itself but even more so because Erin has zero graphic design experience or formal training! Erin also redesigned and reformatted every single new free resource (please note as of today, June 25th, we are still working on getting the new images for the free resources up on the site and they should be up by next week.) Erin also taught herself to code, become a WordPress expert and so much more! She truly has been working every single bit as hard as I have to make Clean Cuisine a beautiful, warm and inviting “home” for you to visit again and again. Andy and I just cannot thank Erin enough for her commitment to Clean Cuisine. We are still nowhere close to being finished with the website but we all decided we just could not delay the launch another minute. It is not yet perfect and we still have some pretty big glitches (such as the free resource section, Challenge and photos not appearing in all blog column categories) that we hope you will overlook for the time being. But we are getting there! (Note: Once Erin finishes up more of the “behind the scenes” stuff that we are still working on she will have the time to start her “Ask Erin” column up again with more regularity and we do hope you take the time to really get to know her. Erin is amazing!)
We really do have so many new features on the website. We would like to invite you to pour yourself a cup of green tea (or maybe some of my new favorite Rooibos tea?), sit down and spend some time looking over our brand new home. And we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Along with the new website I am also launching this, my personal blog, where I will be sharing all sorts of quickie clean living tidbits along with inspiration for living a wonderfully healthy (and fun!) life.
Clean Cuisine 8-Week Challenge Memo
Please note we will be re-launching the Clean Cuisine Challenge (this time without any glitches!) very soon. Stay tuned…
As always, thank you so much for your continued support of Clean Cuisine.
