The Ultimate Liver Detox Smoothie to Flush Toxic Overload

One of the best ways to rid your body of toxic overload is to consume an array of superfoods. These amazing plant-based supplements help support natural elimination and several are added to this liver detox smoothie recipe.

When I first started drinking this Liver Detox Smoothie, the flavor was a bit intense. The first few sips are powerful, but then your body will begin to crave the flavor and the natural cleansing effect that follows.

Anytime I am looking to detox my liver from a big holiday event, a few alcoholic beverages or periodically to improve my digestion/reduce bloating, this is my go to smoothie.

Turmeric is The Best Superfood for Detoxing Your Liver

Turmeric happens to be one of the very best superfoods for detox. It not only enhances liver function, but it has even been shown to regenerate and heal a damaged liver. Having a healthy and well-functioning liver is critically important. The more liver problems you have, the harder it is to process and eliminate toxins of any kind.

In addition to detoxification, turmeric also plays a critical role in reducing inflammation.

Use Turmeric and Ginger Together for the Ultimate Liver Detox Smoothie Boost!

Pairing ginger, turmeric and citrus together in this Liver Detox Smoothie will help boost your body’s absorption. Look for recipes that include both turmeric and ginger together as it is the best way to enhance the bio-availability of the turmeric.

Consider Turmeric in No-Cook Recipes:

Some of the healing and detoxifying benefits of turmeric can be damaged or destroyed with high-heat cooking methods. Therefore, no-cook recipes like this liver detox smoothie or making a liver detox popsicle are the best ways to consume turmeric.

Turn Your Detox Smoothie Into a Popsicle!

Speaking of popsicles — yes, this detox smoothie makes a delicious Turmeric Orange Liver Detox Popsicle too! Making this recipe is not particularly time-consuming. However, I realize some people do not have the extra time to make a fresh smoothie every day.

So, make a double batch and then freeze your smoothie and turning it into a popsicle. It’s a super easy way to still get the benefits of the smoothie without having to make a fresh one each day. The popsicles will keep nicely for about 3 days in the freezer.

Enhance the Detox Benefits of Your Smoothie

If you want to take the detox benefits of your smoothie up a notch, try substituting brewed Dandelion Tea for the water.

Dandelion tea is excellent for boosting liver detoxification. To use dandelion tea in the Detox Smoothie recipe, simply brew the tea first. I like to brew mine with 2 tea bags for a stronger detox component. Then, let it cool in the freezer for 10 minutes before making the smoothie.

What is the Cleanest Protein Base for Smoothies?

Fancy protein powders are not the answer. The cleanest and healthiest protein base for smoothies is simply hemp seeds. The recipe below has 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds, providing approximately 10 grams of ultra-clean protein.

How many days do you recommend drinking this smoothie?

Aimee Niedosik

Thursday 2nd of November 2023

Hi Debbie, When I am actively detoxing for a period of 3-10 days, I drink it daily... sometimes 2x/day. It's personal preference and how your body reacts to it. Note that sometimes as we are detoxing our body, we may feel worse for a few days before we feel better. The symptoms created are typically a sign that your body is detoxing!
